Cups include 5 baby caterpillars and food to last until adulthood. They can be purchased on their own or as a refill cup for our other kits.
It takes 8-14 days on average for the caterpillars to reach the chrysalis stage, and another 8-10 days for them to emerge as butterflies.You can plan on the whole process taking 3-4 weeks from start to finish. If timing is a concern, place your order and we can have it shipped or picked up later (just let us know in the comment box).
If this is your first time with butterflies, we recommend the Home Release Kit that includes the popup enclosure to get started! For Teachers and Group settings, we recommend our Large or Extra LargePainted Lady Kit!
This item is generally available to purchase from March-Oct for an outdoor release, or all year round for warm climates. During winter, refill cups will be shipped the week before Christmas unless another date is requested in the order notes or in an email.
